Superpower: Resourcefulness
Fitness Specialist
Tyra holds a Master’s degree in Applied Exercise Science from Oklahoma State University where she served as the graduate assistant for Employee Wellness, overseeing the health and wellness programs for faculty and staff of the university. She got her Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology at LSU where she began her professional fitness journey as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. There, she specialized in endurance training and developed personalized programs for athletes, including triathletes and distance runners—she still works with a few of these clients today!
Her coaching focus is centered around HIIT, total body, and functional strength for lifelong stability and mobility. Following graduate school, Tyra spent several years working in healthcare, developing expertise in electronic medical records (EMRs) and patient-facing care—strengthening her understanding of the broader healthcare system and the real-world barriers people face in accessing wellness resources.
Now returning to her roots with Healthbreak and a strong scientific background in health and human performance, Tyra is excited to reconnect with her passion for fitness. She is deeply committed to ensuring that all individuals have the opportunity to pursue health and wellbeing in ways that are sustainable and empowering.
She holds certifications from ACE as a personal trainer and certified corrective exercise specialist. Outside of work, Tyra enjoys cycling, sewing, live music, being outdoors and DIY projects.
