Dawn Obermiller, MA, ACSM EP-C

Program Manager

Since 1992, Dawn Obermiller has worked as a health and wellness professional designing wellness strategies for public, private and government worksites to improve employee health and productivity. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health & Fitness Management from Elmira College and a Master’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and is Exercise Physiologist Certified by the American College of Sports Medicine.

Dawn is an outstanding “culture change agent,” in that she is uniquely gifted in getting to know and understand individual worksite cultures and demands and then developing programs tailored to fit well with and enhance what exists. Her creativity and ability to engage all levels of an organization allow her to develop programs that address the most common national health concerns of physical inactivity, weight, poor nutrition, stress and tobacco. Dawn believes that worksite wellness programs are not a cure but a platform from which people can make better decisions about their health.

Why do you love your chosen profession?

Variety. I love the ability to work with different programs and initiatives and different people and client groups. I also relish the challenge of coming up with new ways to address old issues. And I enjoy coaching individuals to reach their healthy life goals.

What is your superpower?

Activation. I can get seemingly unmovable or unchangeable cultures and people to move and change. When a group is stuck, I find it fun and interesting to try to come up with a new idea or strategy to get them reenergized and on track. My other superpower is my ability to effectively read a client’s culture, understand their uniqueness, and come up with a tailored plan to address their needs.
